The Nature of Excellence

“Since excellence is almost always an episodic rather than a permanent condition, most people correctly believe that they are not excellent. Because of this correct assumption, they make a second, incorrect assumption. They choose to incorrectly believe they cannot be consistently excellent. In the same fashion, they conclude that their organization could never be excellent.
If we are willing to entertain the possibility of our own growth, we can experience episodes of excellence. As we recognize the excellence in ourselves, we can begin to look for the excellence in others. We can become expert at locating it and we can use it to spark hope and stimulate people to new actions and new learning. In the process, we create more positive relationships, teams, organizations and communities.” – The Positive Organization
